Career & Technical Education Resources

Resources relating to Career and Technical Education include those that will assist educators in providing quality instruction to improve the academic and technical achievement of students.  Documents including work-based learning, curriculum development, and facilities are designed to provide information on the types of work-based learning, guidelines for developing curriculum and guidelines for planning facilities.   

Program Reviews
Program reviews have been written for three (3) areas: Arts & Humanities, Writing, and Practical Living and Career Studies. They will serve a number of purposes, which include

·         improving the quality teaching and learning for all students in all programs

·         allowing equal access to all students the skills that will assist them in being productive citizens

·         allowing student demonstration of understanding beyond a paper-and-pencil test

·         ensuring a school-wide natural integration of the program skills across all contents, beyond the program areas

 

Career and Technical Education Curriculum Alignment
CTE consultants, in cooperation with teachers, have broken down courses in career pathways into units, learning targets, and activities and have aligned these with common core, national and KOSSA standards.

The Work-Based Learning Manual provides information on the various types of work-based learning experiences such as cooperative education, entrepreneurial program, internship, mentoring, school-based enterprises, service learning and shadowing.  Information also includes an overview of legal issues and guidelines for implementing the various types of work-based learning.
