When replying or forwarding an e-mail, does the original message remain open? You can quickly end up with dozens of messages open, each in their own window.

By enabling the “close original message window when replying or forwarding” option, Outlook will clean up all of those windows up for you. To do so:

1. Open Outlook.

2. Select the File tab.

3. Select Option.

4. Select Mail.

5. Place a check in the box next to “Close original message window on reply or forward” – you’ll need to scroll down to see this option, located in the “Replies and forwards” section.

6. Click OK.

From now on, Outlook will close the window for you when you reply or forward an e-mail.
