We see it quite often, someone can’t surf the Internet or they’re not able to use a certain function of a website. Most often the culprit is a toolbar that’s been installed in Internet Explorer. While toolbars can be quite useful for some Internet websites, they can also be problematic. We see the following two issues most frequently.
1. A customer can’t surf the Internet because a toolbar has corrupted a specific browser function that inhibits the web page from being displayed correctly.
2. The toolbar has a pop up blocker built in that blocks a pop up from displaying on the users screen. This is an issue we often see on machines that are accessing web-based applications such as eMars or TEDS.
Tip - If you’re having trouble accessing a website or portion of a website, be sure to validate that no Internet toolbars are installed. To check for toolbars, open Internet Explorer, click on View, and then select Toolbars. You should only see three options, Menu Bar, Links, and Lock the Toolbar. To remove any other toolbars that might be installed, navigate to the Control Panel and then Add or Remove Programs. Most often, uninstalling the Internet toolbar(s) will solve the problem.
